ANCSU appeals NU to revise re-evaluation fee

DIMAPUR, JUL 15 (NPN)

All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has appealed to the Nagaland University (NU) to revise the re-evaluation fee and allow the students to verify their answer scripts before the re-evaluation examination commences.
In a representation to the vice chancellor of Nagaland University (NU), ANCSU president Tenyesinlo Bukh and vice president H Kivika Achumi expressed serious concerns over the recently declared results of the 2nd and 4th semester dated July 11, 2025 and 6th semester dated July 8, 2025.
The union expressed anguish that NU continued to remain unprofessional and insincere in declaring the semester results year after. On several occasions, ANCSU said it proposed that the mark moderation procedure be reviewed to make the policy more student-friendly.
The union said it also proposed reducing the number of failures in the new system as poor result could cause long-term harm and scepticism regarding National Education Policy (NEP) 2020’s implementation in the state.
ANCSU observed that backlog rate for the 2nd and 4th semesters was unusually high this academic year. The union said the situation not only tarnished the reputation of institutions and the university but also put the academic future of thousands of students at risk.
It questioned the NU’s implementation of NEP 2020, saying there were numerous issues such as missing student names, cleared VAC subject but NU results read backlog and students declared passed in some subjects during the 2nd semester were marked as backlog.
ANCSU said the recently declared results not only drastically reduced the pass rate, but also “humiliated” some bright students.
It expressed hope that NU would thoroughly assess those critical circumstances with sincerity and demonstrate its commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment.
