Dismayed by non-release of Post Matric Scholarship (PMS), the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has cautioned the department of higher education that failure to immediately release the scholarship could invite retaliation for which the department would be held responsible for any untoward incident.
In a press release, All Nagaland College Students’ Union president, Temjennungsang Jamir, and education secretary, Viranu Ltu, stated that the department has failed to acknowledge the repeated appeals of the union with regard to releasing of PMS for ST students of Nagaland for the year 2016-17.
ANCSU stated that the department was “ignorant” and still remained silent even after having made an assurance that it would disburse the amount to the students within ten days during the meeting with the governor on September 18, 2017.
Reminding the department that early release of scholarship amount was to meet many untold hardships faced by the students, the union said that further delay could cause more confusion and misunderstanding.
Meanwhile, the ANCSU has assured the students it would never compromise its stand and demand until the scholarship was released in full amount.
Further, the union has asked the students to be prepared in case of any action to be proposed and initiated by All Nagaland College Students’ Union.
