ANCSU serves ultimatum on Higher Education deptt

All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has expressed disappointment at the Higher Education department’s failure to resolve the issue of contractual teachers despite several appeals.

In a letter addressed to the minister higher education, All Nagaland College Students’ Union president Toito D Chishi and general secretary Tenyesinlo Bukh have, therefore, demanded that the service of 42 contractual teachers, who were short of requisite qualification, be discontinued within 14 days.

The union also urged the Higher Education department to prepare all measures to ensure that there was no shortage of teachers under any circumstances.
All Nagaland College Students’ Union said sufficient time was given to the department and government to take a decisive call on issue.

However, ANCSU said the department’s “sincerity in solving the issue has never been serious.”
The union reminded that it gave recommendations and suggestions besides representations on the issue.

All Nagaland College Students’ Union stated that such irregular appointments have not only deprived the aspirants from open competition, but also affected the teaching environment in the institutes.
“While acknowledging the services of the contractual teachers, the ANCSU cannot allow such services to continue henceforth,” the union stated.
