ANCSU serves ultimatum to govton scholarship nodal cell delay

DIMAPUR, AUG 15 (NPN)

All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has issued a 27-day ultimatum to the State Government, demanding immediate implementation of the separate Scholarship Nodal Cell under the Higher & Technical Education Department, which was earlier approved by the Cabinet.
In a press release, ANCSU president Tenyesinlo Bukh and general secretary Kivinoka A. Sema expressed dissatisfaction on the government’s continued neglect of students’ genuine grievances. The Union stated that despite the Cabinet’s approval on June 10, 2019, and subsequent notification dated October 25, 2019, the Scholarship Nodal Cell remains non-functional in practice.
ANCSU lamented that the delay in consolidating various scholarship schemes—currently scattered across multiple departments-under a single cell reflects the inefficiency of the State Government. It pointed out that other Northeastern states have already established dedicated scholarship boards or cells, ensuring smooth functioning without delays in sanction or disbursement from the Central Ministry. The union termed the prolonged inaction as a wilful neglect of students’ rights and grievances, describing it as tantamount to their “assassination.” It asserted that there was no valid justification for further delay, especially when the matter has been approved at the highest level and repeatedly raised by the student body.
ANCSU therefore cautioned that failure to act within the stipulated deadline would compel the student community to initiate appropriate democratic forms of protest.
