Ang Mai-led NSCN (K) allegedly abducts 10 youth

At least 10 youth from Longwa and Longwa Wamsa villages along the India-Myanmar border, have been allegedly abducted by members of Ang Mai-led NSCN (K) on December 27 evening.


Speaking to Nagaland Post over phone, former VDB secretary of Longwa Wamsa village, Ton-ghi Konyak, confirmed the alleged abduction and said that “Brig” Pongying of Ang Mai faction abducted around 10 youth from Longwa and Longwa Wamsa villages.


He maintained that the act was likely a case of forced recruitment. He also claimed that the youth were reportedly taken to Chen Chingren village in Myanmar. Tonghi Konyak informed that village elders from Longwa and Wamsa villages were sent to the NSCN(K) camp to negotiate the release of the abducted youth. However, till the time of filing this report, there was no confirmation regarding their release.
