Angami Women Organisation welcomes suspension of Reny Wilfred

DIMAPUR, MAY 23 (NPN):

Angami Women Organisation (AWO) has expressed appreciation to the state government for taking “decisive action” by suspending Reny Wilfred from his official post, who, it said has shown “a disturbing pattern” of abusing his position of power to abuse women and children.
In a press release, AWO president Neithono R Sothu and general secretary Atono Kense commended the government for its prompt response in addressing the gravity of the allegations involved. AWO said suspension of Wilfred demonstrated the government’s commitment to accountability and ethical governance.
“The action taken is also a reminder that no individual is above the law and those in public services are expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity and conduct,” AWO stated.
The apex Angami woman body reaffirmed that safety of women and children were its utmost priority, adding it would go to any extent to protect womenfolk.
AWO has, therefore, urged the judiciary to ensure that legal process was free, fair and transparent without prejudice or delay.
It demanded that justice must be served and any wrongdoing must be addressed with appropriate disciplinary and legal measures to uphold public trust and the rule of law.
