All Nagaland Government College Teachers’ Association (ANGCTA) on Wednesday announced that the association would be observing “Justice Day” called by the All India Federation of University and College Teachers’ Organization (AIFUCTO) on July 12, 2017. In a press release, ANGCTA general secretary, Dr. Phyobenthung, stated that despite repeated appeals made by AIFUCTO for the publication of 7th RoP, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) was deliberately dilly-dallying by making empty promises. The ANGCTA has therefore urged the MHRD to immediately fulfil the demands of the teaching community to avoid bitter confrontation. Meanwhile, ANGCTA has assured to extend full cooperation to the AIFUCTO’s struggle for the welfare of the teachers of higher education in the country. The demands of the AIFUCTO include immediate publication of the report and implementation of 7th UGC pay revision recommendations in consultation with AIFUCTO and other teachers’ body; 100% financial assistance for uniform & simultaneous implementation of 7th pay scale; abolition of anomalies in the 6th RoP, stop budget cut in education, immediate withdrawal of HEFA (Higher Education Financing Agency) and HEERA (Higher Education Empowerment Regulation Act) and strengthen UGC and AICTE, stop commercialisation, corporatisation and centralisation of higher education.
