ANGSU reformed; elects new team

All Nagaland Gorkha Students’ Union (ANGSU), one of the oldest body of Gorkha community in the State, which has been defunct for several years, have been reformed on August 27 at its general meeting held in Kohima.


GSUK president, Meghraj Lama in a press release informed that, the objective of reforming the ANGSU was to empower education and physical activity of Gorkha students community within Nagaland.
ANGSU, which have been the backbone of Nagaland Gorkha Association (NGA), was reformed under the initiative of Nagaland Gorkha Association, Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima (GPPK) and Gorkha Students Union Kohima (GSUK).


The union would be led by newly elected president John Thakuri from Kohima, Sunil Limbu of Dimapur & Michael Subba of Mokokchung as vice presidents, Yommi Rai from Kohima as general secretary, Prabhat Rai of Mokokchung as assistant general secretary, Maya Bardewa of Chümoukedima as finance & treasure and Upasna Rai of Chümoukedimaas press & information secretary.


The meeting was chaired by vice president, GSUK Jenny Lamechane Chettri, president NGA Nobin Pradhan exhorted the gatherings, a brief history of ANGSU was shared by founding member ANGSU 1974 Buddhi Bahadur Thapa, while GPPK vice president Prabhu Gurung tendered the vote of thanks.
