An awareness programme cum animal health camp was organized by KVK Peren, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Jalukie, Peren, in collaboration with ICAR NRC on Mithun, Medziphema and College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, CAU , Jalukie Peren 6 at Town Council Hall, Tening Town on June 6.
ADC Tening, T Lemlila Sangtam, who graced the function as special guest, encouraged the participants to avail the opportunities provided by various departments and stakeholders for the welfare of their livestock’s.
She also suggested the livestock rearers to seek for prevention and treatment of ailing animals and encouraged the villagers to spread the knowledge they gain to their neighbours.
Dr. A. Palanisammi, professor, Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, also in his speech encouraged the farmers to acquire knowledge and benefit from the programme through active participation.
CTO (Animal Science), Dr. L. Babita Devi earlier chaired and delivered keynote address.
During the technical session, VN, ICAR-NRC on Mithun Medziphema, Dr. Narendra, Dr. Keneisezo Kuotsu and Dr. Tukheswar Chutia of CVSc, CAU, Jalukie and Dr. L Babita Devi of KVK Peren delivered lecture on the topics “Calf care and Management”, “Important diseases of Cattle and their management” “Reproductive disease in pig and their management and “Important diseases of Poultry and their management” respectively.
As a part of the programme, farmer scientist interaction was also organised, followed by Animal Health camp. Altogether 166 participants including 16 officials attended programme. During the animal health camp, castration in pig and Goat were performed. Free supplements and veterinary medicines were distributed covering total of 1216 livestocks. The programme was conducted by experts from KVK Peren, ICAR NRC Mithun and CVSc, CAU, Jalukie along with their students.
