49th annual session of Philimi Students’ Union (PSU) began at Philimi village, Atoizu range under Zunheboto district on December 18 under the theme “self evaluation to cope with the changing world”.
While exhorting the students, president, Atoizu Range Students’ Union (ARSU), Aketovi Assumi highlighted on the motto of PSU, “brighten every corner,” and added that it was the responsibility of students to bring light to dark phases in the society. He questioned the students if they were living by example in brightening the corners as in their motto.
Aketovi pointed out that the parents in villages had been working hard in the field to educate the children and asked whether the students had been doing their part in the academic field.
He advised the students not to depend on their parents for livelihood but that it was time for the youths to pay back.
Earlier during the programme, a speech competition was held on the topics, “clean election”, “tobacco free zone” “importance of education in our village” and “avenues of sustainable eonomic development”. The competition was held within the units of PSU.
