The All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association (ANPSA), Dimapur Unit, concluded its Badminton Tournament 2026 on Saturday at Vidya Bhawan Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, marking 25 years of ANPSA Dimapur Unit’s sports activities.
Gracing the occasion as chief guest, former principal secretary, Government of Nagaland and chairman of Lima Aier Higher Secondary School Dr. Maongwati Aier highlighted the growing popularity and accessibility of badminton in India. He encouraged young players to strive for excellence and bring laurels to both the state and the nation.
Emphasising the importance of physical education, Dr. Aier said sports play a crucial role in shaping the body, mind, and spirit of students. He also underscored the value of good health, noting that sports contribute significantly to mental and physical well-being.
Further, he remarked that sports instill essential life values such as teamwork, discipline, and character building. “A true sportsperson learns to accept both victory and defeat gracefully,” he said, adding that teamwork fosters collective success over individual glory. He expressed optimism that Nagaland has the potential to produce national and international champions if young talents are nurtured properly.
Earlier, an exhortation was delivered by ANPSA Dimapur Unit president Asito Peseyie, while students of Little Star Higher Secondary School presented a special number.
The vote of thanks was proposed by proprietor and administrator of Lampstand Higher Secondary School, Kuto Kahoto.
The tournament saw participation from students representing 25 schools across Dimapur, with Footprints Academy adjudged the Best Disciplined School.
