DIMAPUR, AUG 29 (NPN): ANPSA Dimapur Unit’s Table Tennis and Catch Them Young U-14 Sepaktakraw tournaments 2026 concluded on Saturday with a closing ceremony held in Dimapur.
Special guest ANPSA central president, Bithungo Kikon, lauded the efforts of officials, associations, schools, coaches, athletes and all involved in the successful conduct of the tournament. Emphasising the importance of skill, he defined it as the ability developed through knowledge, training, and practice, quoting Proverbs 22:29: “A man skilled in his work will stand before kings.” He noted that under the National Education Policy (NEP), sports are no longer merely co-curricular but an integral part of learning.
Drawing an analogy with an aeroplane, Kikon remarked that while skills can lift a person up, attitude and character keep them there. He stressed the importance of humility, obedience, respect for authority, honesty, truthfulness, and integrity, observing that character is revealed by what one does when no one is watching.
Addressing the gathering, president of ANPSA Dimapur Unit, Asito Peseyie, highlighted the marked improvement in Sepaktakraw among students and teachers compared to last year. He attributed the progress to continued training and collaboration between the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, ANPSA and the Sepaktakraw Association. Peseyie expressed gratitude to the Department, coaches, referees and associations for their support, while encouraging young players to continue practising and aim for national-level representation.
Earlier, the programme began with an opening prayer by Principal of Holy Cross Higher Secondary School, Father Renthungo Odyuo. The event also featured a group song, “Believer”, presented by students of Lampstand Higher Secondary School.
The vote of thanks was delivered by proprietor of Lampstand Higher Secondary School Kuto Kahato.
The tournament, aimed at identifying and nurturing young sporting talent, provided school students with valuable opportunities to develop their skills and gain competitive exposure.
