ANPSA Wokha unit organises U-14 Sepaktakraw tournament

DIMAPUR, Sep 23 (NPN): The All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association (ANPSA) Wokha Unit, in collaboration with the Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland, hosted the first-ever U-14 Inter School Sepaktakraw Tournament under the “Catch Them Young” initiative.
Regimental School DEF Wokha emerged as the undisputed champions in both the boys’ and girls’ categories, defeating Cistus School Wokha in the finals. The landmark event marked a significant step in promoting Sepaktakraw among young athletes in the district.
Vice president of Wokha District Sepak Takraw Association, T. Zuchanthung Lotha, delivered the keynote address, encouraging participants to embrace the sport with dedication. He emphasized the natural athleticism of the Naga youth, highlighting Sepak Takraw as a promising avenue for national and international recognition.
The tournament commenced with a brief inaugural programme led by treasurer of ANPSA Wokha Unit, Phyochobeni Khuvung. A prayer was offered by Mhaden Jungio, invoking blessings for the event.
Oath-taking ceremony was administered by James Ezung to instil sportsmanship and commitment among the players. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by president of ANPSA Wokha Unit, K. Edward Ngullie.
T. Zuchanthung Lotha later presented the awards to the champions and runners-up, commending their performance and sportsmanship.
