ANPSA(Z) organises teachers’ workshop in Zunheboto

All Nagaland Private Schools Association (ANPSA-Z) Zunheboto unit organized a teachers’ workshop for schools in Zunheboto, with Lethika Lalparlien from Purpose Driven Family (PDF) Ministry, West Bengal, as the resource person at Cornerstone School, Zunheboto on February 27.

A press release from Cornerstone School Zunheboto, assistant teacher Tavinto K. Sumi stated that Lethika kept the workshop engaged throughout the day with slide-show presentations, video clips and other activities. She stressed on the importance of teachers building a healthy relationship with students. Lethika also spoke on listening and communication skills, perseverance and decision making. On developing literacy in young learners, she said that it was not reading and writing but listening and speaking skills that should first be developed in a child. This, she said, would enable them to effectively read and write as they progress from kindergarten to primary and upper levels.  Speaking on lesson plan making, the resource person added that lesson plans should involve listening, speaking, reading and writing skills of the students.

Teachers were also given time to give feedback on the workshop which ended with a prayer from Avi, the school counsellor. The workshop was attended by 93 teachers from six different schools. Lethika also conducted a two-day workshop at Olympic Higher Secondary School, Zunheboto. Earlier, a brief introduction was given by Tokavi Suu, president, ANPSA (Z).
