All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) head office has expressed disappointment over the delay in arrest of unknown armed miscreants involved in the vandalism of its office at Kohima even two days after the incident.
ANTA president Dziesevituo Solo told Nagaland Post that the incident appeared to be a pre-planned attack. He said that the union had come across such cases in the past also but used to get resolved amicably. However, he said this time the miscreant had gone to the extent of bringing a gun and vandalising the office. The union informed that the miscreants also took away their CCTV DSR, two walkie-talkie sets besides destroying computer and landline phone. The union said that miscreant tried to open office almirah but failed. ANTA president informed that the union would soon been convening a presidential meeting and decide on taking further course of action.
Solo stated that the union firmly affirmed the joint declaration made during presidential meet of All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) with its affiliated sub-units on March 26, 2022 at Zunheboto, wherein it was “mutually agreed and consented to the ‘one government, one tax’ resolution by ACAUT Nagaland on October 31, 2013”. Meanwhile, ANTA Mokokchung president Tongpang, who visited the ANTA head office Monday to show solidarity with ANTA central, condemned the act of vandalism and extended full support.
He asserted that such actions would never bring solution to Naga society.
Tongpang also called upon all sensible citizens to condemn the “acts of barbarism” and underscored the need to root out such behaviour from the society. He said that there was no place for such individuals in the society. ANTA Mokokchung unit also affirmed to strongly stand by “one government, one tax” resolution.
Condemnations
More organizations have condemned the vandalisation of ANTA head office in Kohima.
NPF: Condemning the incident, the NPF Central Youth Wing in a statement particularly expressed its strong dismay over the threat to the life of the association’s general secretary, Meyieho Hibo, who was also the secretary of the Central Youth Wing.
The youth body claimed the act of pointing a gun at him and threatening him with his life during the incident that evening had caused him mental trauma and created fear psychosis.
The Youth Wing mentioned that ANTA was a social service organisation working for the welfare of taxi owners and the people, adding that such act of cowardice to its members deserved a strong condemnation from all sections of society.
The NPF Central Youth Wing strongly urged the law enforcing agencies to immediately book the culprits and initiate action as per the law of the land.
ANTA Wokha: Strongly reiterating its stand for “one government, one tax”, ANTA Wokha unit too has strongly condemned the vandalism at the ANTA head office.
In a press note, ANTA Wokha unit president Renbemo Kikon and disciplinary action committee convener Ekonthung Kikon expressed strong resentment against the incident, pointing out that educated unemployed ANTA members were surviving hand to mouth through honest means and they did not deserve to go through such an unnecessary harassment.
They reminded all concerned the unanimous adoption of “one government, one tax” resolution during the 2022 ANTA annual meet at Zunheboto, declared that all units would strongly stand by the resolution.
They called for a thorough investigation into the incident and demanded stern action against the anti-social elements. Further, they also urged all right-thinking citizens to condemn the incident.

In a press release, the unit declared of remaining steadfast to the ANTA resolution of “one government, one tax” and declared its full support to the association in all its future endeavours.
They also appealed to every right-thinking citizen to condemn such menace and appealed to law enforcing agencies to book the perpetrators at the earliest under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
CCDUK: Chakhesang Commercial Drivers Union Kohima (CCDUK) has strongly condemned the attack and vandalism of All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) office by some individuals and putting the life of one of the office bearers in danger.
In a press note, CCDUK president Kuvethi Puro and general secretary Vekuvoyi Lohe said it was a clear act of cowardice, unacceptable and needed to be seriously dealt with as per the law.
While stating that an attack on one of its members was also an attack to all of them, the union said it will “not allow those who seek to exploit and prey on the hard work of others specially the taxi drivers who lives hand to mouth.”
