The All Nagaland Hindi Teachers Union (ANHTU) has demanded the release of pending salaries of Hindi teachers appointed in the year, 2012 and 2013.

In a press release, ANHTU president Ruchunlo Tep said that the union was “once again aggrieved” to reiterate the “lackadaisical attitude of the state government” in releasing their salaries on time.

With the implementation of e-Pay bill system in the offing, ANHTU said that the one-month salary of some state employees was also delayed for the first time for some few days which led to financial strains “leading to untold hardships”.

Taking instance of the delayed payment, ANHTU asked the responsible department to ponder upon the plight of the Hindi teachers who had to provide two square meals a day to sustain their livelihood and to make both ends meet.

With the bills for payment of salaries and wages of all department to be relaxed from the purview of e-Pay bill system, ANHTU has demanded that their salary bills be put on priority and the pending salaries from September to November be paid on or before and the last transaction day (December 22).

Further, ANHTU has appealed to the state government to “maintain equality and equity in all aspects while also treating the Hindi Teachers at par with all other employees of the state”.
