
Chief medical officer’s office Tuensang observed anti-leprosy day programme under the theme, “Last war against leprosy” at CMO conference hall on January 30.
A press release by DMO Tuensang, Apheang stated that, zonal leprosy officer, Dr. Limawabang urged the health workers to focus more on social stigma. He also informed the health care workers like ASHAs and Anganwadis to create awareness and go for contact tracing and also to detect and reduce leprosy disease at the earliest.
EAC Ketsinle Tep, said leprosy was curable so affected people needed to go for treatment as early as possible. She also said that by creating awareness one can change people’s mindset and eradicate leprosy disease in the district. She also encouraged the health workers to join hands together to fight against leprosy.
Earlier, welcome address was given by deputy CMO Dr. G. Viholi Sema. Leaflets on “handout on leprosy” were also distributed during the programme chaired by Changlemba NMS and invocation by Masatuba PMW.
