Anti-Leprosy day observed in Wokha

Anti-Leprosy day was observed on January 30, at Chief Medical Officer (CMO) office Wokha under the theme “Last war against Leprosy”. 

Delivering the keynote address, Chief Medical Officer Wokha, Dr. C.W. Tungoe stated that ending prejudice and stigma is essential to end leprosy. “We must eliminate barriers prevent which families from availing treatment on a curable disease like leprosy”, Chief Medical Officer Wokha added. 

Chairing the programme, zonal leprosy officer Wokha, Dr. Mhonchan Kithan called upon the health workers to create awareness on Leprosy in churches and community meetings. 

Dr. Mhonchan informed that NLEP staffs will be carrying out case findings and awareness activities on leprosy in the next few days at grass root level.
