As part of anti-malaria month, an advocacy and coordination meeting for stakeholders was held on June 27 at the conference hall of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) office, Wokha.
Speaking at the programme, CMO Wokha, Dr. Thungchanbemo Ezung, stressed the need to reduce mosquito breeding sources by maintaining sanitation and removing stagnant water. She called for cooperation from all stakeholders to spread awareness on malaria prevention.
Consultant of National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) Wokha, Wezolo Medo, said the meeting aimed to encourage public participation in preventing vector-borne diseases. He highlighted the need for preparedness during the monsoon season against malaria, dengue, and Japanese encephalitis.
Wezolo also informed that free medicines, Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINs), and malaria testing are being provided by the medical department. He noted a rise in dengue cases in recent months and said the department is taking steps to manage the situation.
More than 40 participants including colony chairmen, GBs of Wokha town, and NVBDCP staff attended the meeting.
