Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department of Kohima district conducted a free anti-rabies vaccination camp across three villages—Zhadima, Phekerkriema, and Ziezou—on April 4.

The vaccination drive was led by Dr. Elizabeth, District Livestock Development Officer (DLDO), and Dr. N. Suokhrie, Veterinary Assistant Surgeon (VAS) of Chiephobozou, along with a team of six Veterinary Field Assistants (VFAs). A total of 99 dogs were vaccinated during the camp.

The initiative aimed to curb the spread of rabies and raise awareness about the importance of routine vaccinations for pets and stray animals. Local residents appreciated the efforts of the veterinary department in ensuring the well-being of animals and public health safety through annual vaccination programs.

The department has urged all pet owners to ensure their animals receive timely rabies vaccinations to prevent potential outbreaks and safeguard both human and animal populations.
