Asserting there were so many languages spoken in the country, the Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, said that all the languages spoken in the country was national language.
Rijiju, who arrived Dimapur to attend the Rozgar Mela, told media persons at Dimapur Airport Friday, when he asked to comment on the controversial remark made by Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, that “those who speak English in India would soon feel ashamed.”
Clarifying Shah’s remark, Rijiju stressed on understanding the context and pointed out that those who speak the language, which were not Indian language was ok, but added that one should not forget their mother tongue. Stating that English was a foreign language, he, however, acknowledging the usefulness of learning of new language. Rijiju reiterated that people have to learn their mother tongue as part of their culture and identity.
Asked whether he had any other objective during his visit to state, Rijiju said that besides distributing certificates at the Rozgar Mela, he would discuss with officials about schemes related to his ministry. Union minister asserted that since he was also from the North East region, he was willing to discuss about many other issues. Rijiju also expressed his willingness to help in schemes and developmental proposals of the state pending in the central government or on the verge of submission. The minister, however, clarified that he would not discuss anything politics as his visit was apolitical.
Rozgar Mela in Dimapur today: The Lumding Division of Northeast Frontier Railway will be organizing the ‘Rozgar Mela’ at Dimapur on July 12, under the Government of India’s flagship nationwide employment initiative aimed at providing job opportunities to the youth.
The event will be held at Town Hall, Super Market Lane, Half Nagarjan, at 10:30 a.m., where Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, will be present to hand over appointment letters to newly recruited candidates.
As part of the 16th edition of Rozgar Mela being held simultaneously at 47 locations across India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will distribute more than 51,000 appointment letters via video conferencing at around 11:00 a.m. The Prime Minister will also address the appointees during the event.
A total of 107 candidates will receive appointment letters physically in Dimapur, while 239 letters will be dispatched via email by Lumding Division on the same day.
Rozgar Mela is a key initiative of the Ministry of Railways in coordination with various Central Ministries and Departments, including the Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Posts, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Department of Financial Services, and Ministry of Labour & Employment, among others.
According to the organisers, over 10 lakh appointment letters have already been issued in previous Rozgar Melas held nationwide. The programme underscores the Centre’s commitment to employment generation and youth empowerment.
