Ao Naga community in Bengaluru celebrated the Tsüngremmong festival on August 2 at United Theological College, showcasing cultural identity and unity.
The festival was co-hosted by Ao Senso Telongjem Bangalore (ASTB) and Ao Kaketshir Telongjem Bangalore (AKTB) under the theme “Sobaliba Rajem”, the event brought together students, professionals, elders, and well-wishers.
A key highlight of the event was the address by speaker Lanusenla Longchar, who urged the younger generation to stay rooted in cultural values while facing modern challenges. She emphasized mindful living, wise decision-making, and honoring ancestral wisdom.
The celebration witnessed traditional folk dances and songs by Ao students from Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru, followed by indigenous folksong performances by the Bengaluru Watsü Telok. An interactive segment titled, “Tsüngremmong Shijep” which was the festival distribution of pork was led by AKTB president Akangnungsang Jamir.
The program began with a welcome address by the hosts and an invocation by Dr. Kaholi Zhimomi, opening remarks by ASTB, president, Sunep Longkumer, who highlighted the purpose and significance of the festival, vote of thanks by AKTB president, Akangnungsang Jamir and benediction by Bengaluru Ao Baptist Fellowship, pastor in charge, Imti Walling.
