DIMAPUR, OCT 9 (NPN): Various Ao civil society and youth organisations adopted a joint resolution reaffirming unity, discipline and collective responsibility at a solidarity meeting with veteran Naga leader Dr. S.C. Jamir at his farmhouse in Chümoukedima on October 9.
Organised by the Ao Youth Organisation, Chümoukedima, the meeting brought together representatives of Ao Senso Telongjems and youth organisations from Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Niuland, Medziphema, Diphupar, Foothill and Aoyim areas to deliberate on issues concerning the Ao community and the Naga society.
It also resolved that the formal launching of the Western Ao Youth Front would include Ao youth from Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Niuland districts to strengthen unity and coordination among Ao youth organisations in the region.
The gathering unanimously expressed support for the resolution adopted by Ao Senden concerning the retraction of statements made by V.S. Atem and R.H. Raising. It echoed the Ao Senden leadership’s call for Naga leaders and the public to uphold discipline, fortitude, humility and wisdom in the interest of unity and mutual respect. The meeting also resolved to remain vigilant and reserved the right to take appropriate action as circumstances required.
The house endorsed the initiative spearheaded by the Naga Youth Movement seeking an early, honourable and acceptable solution to the long-pending Naga political issue. The meeting appealed to all stakeholders in the Naga peace process, particularly Government of India, to facilitate a permanent, honourable and inclusive settlement of Naga issue at the earliest to ensure lasting peace and stability. The joint resolution was adopted by Ao Senso Telongjem, Chümoukedima; Ao Senso Telongjem, Dimapur; Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation; Ao Youth Organisation, Chümoukedima; Aoyim Youth Organisation; Diphupar Ao Youth Organisation; Foothill Ao Youth Organisation; and Medziphema Ao Youth Organisation.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to work together for the welfare of the Ao community and peace, unity and progress among the Naga people.
