DIMAPUR, OCT 7 (NPN): Ao Senden has accepted the retraction issued by NSCN (I-M) deputy ato kilonser ‘lt. gen.’ (Retd) V.S. Atem and special emissary to the collective leadership R.H. Raising over their statements against Dr. S.C. Jamir on September 16, 2026.
In a statement, Ao Senden president Marsanen Imsong and general secretary Imtipokyim said: “The Ao Senden in all magnanimity and sincerity by the grace of God, honorably accepts the forthright retract” issued by Atem and Raising.
The Senden said it had received a formal retraction declaration signed by both leaders, stating that their comments were never intended to hurt the sentiments of the Ao Senden and had been retracted forthwith.
It said the development followed a deliberation on October 3 between Ao Senden and a delegation appointed by NSCN (I-M), during which the delegation expressed regret. However, the Senden said it had made it unequivocally clear that the statements had to be retracted by the individual leaders who made the unacceptable remarks against Dr. SC Jamir.
Ao Senden said any Naga leader must be a paragon of discipline, fortitude, humility and wisdom, and appealed to all concerned to move forward in the spirit of unity and mutual respect.
It reaffirmed that no individual or group had the right to deny any Naga citizen their legitimate voice in Naga affairs. The Senden said it would remain vigilant and reserved the right to undertake appropriate action if necessary, while urging that any infraction against any Naga citizen be avoided in the interest of the Nagas.
