Ao Senden, All Ward Union Mokokchung Town, and Land Owner Board Mokokchung Town (Ungma, Mokokchung & Khensa Village councils) have announced support to the stance taken with regard to the Supreme Court hearing on the issue of Nagaland Municipal Act.
This was resolved at a joint meeting of the organisations held at the Ao Senden office Wednesday. The house also resolved that Naga people should be consulted before the proposed new Nagaland Municipal Act that was being framed by the panel constituted by the State government for introduction in the State Assembly and that Article 371(A) must not be compromised while framing the new Act.
Further, the meeting termed the purported report that the Ao Senden had accepted the 33% women quota in urban local bodies (ULBs) during the September 1 consultative meeting convened by the state government, as unfounded and hence regrettable. This was stated in a press note by Ao Senden president Chubawati Longchar and general secretary Imtipokyim.
