
As the festive spirit of the Moatsü continues to reverberate through the hills of the Ao land, the festivity continued at Merangkong village, Chuchuyimlang and Ungma on Wednesday.
At Merangkong village, Moatsü festival was hosted by Putu at Amonglenden, Merangkong village and graced by minster for forest, environment and climate change, Imkong L Imchen and parliamentary secretary for industries and commerce, Amenba Yaden.
People from various walks of life and different community, both young and old, took part in the colourful celebration. “Ancha” or special invitees from neighbouring tribes also participated in the programme and performed cultural dances.
In his address, Imkong appreciated and acknowledged the villagers for their effort in preserving and conserving the rich tradition and culture by way of observing festivals such as Moatsü. He also encouraged them to continue to preserve their culture.
He also said that celebration of Moatsü festival should usher in peace and tranquillity in the area and progress and prosperity in the land.
Earlier in the program, the welcome address was delivered by Kumsangchiba, council secretary while chairman Kangtsung village exhorted the gathering. The guest of honour, Amenba Yaden, also spoke at the program. The program also witnessed cultural presentations from various groups including Kanching Cultural troops and various other organizations of the village. The program was followed by a Moatsü feast.
CHUCHUYIMLANG: Moatsü festival was celebrated at the Anu Mai Amphitheatre, Chuchuyimlang, under the nomenclature “Moatsü Destination”, as bestowed by the Tourism Department, Government of Nagaland.
Speaking as chief guest, commissioner & commissioner & secretary, agriculture, Imkonglemba, said the festival was the time to make new friends, renew the bond of friendship and seek God’s blessing for plentiful harvest.
He said Moatsü festival was significant in building good relationship with other community or neighbouring villages. Imkonglemba also acknowledged the attendance of 23 representatives from Chang, Phom, Sangtam tribes and the native Ao villagers.
Earlier, Moatsü greetings were delivered by the village council chairman of Unger, Limasangwa, Salulamang, Imyanluba and Kelingmen, S Yanger; cultural song and dances were presented by Medamsanger, Yaongyimchen, Moluyongpong Cultural Club, Yaongyimsen, Chungliyimti village (Sangtam), NIELIT and Yaongyimti New (Chang); welcome address was delivered by Tsukjemtangit while the vote of thanks was proposed by Meyiyapang Pongener.
UNGMA: Culmination programme for Moatsü festival celebration was held at Aonglenden, Ungma with additional chief secretary & finance commissioner, Temjen Toy, as guest patron.
The festival celebration was marked with traditional dances, songs and the traditional tug-of-war between the men and women. The festival was organised by the Kosasanger Pusu, Ungma Impang.
