Apex Diagnostic Centre marks 4th anniversary

Staff Reporter

Apex Diagnostic Clinic and Research Centre celebrated its fourth anniversary Tuesday with the inauguration of an in-house histopathology (biopsy) facility at its premises, marking a significant step in expanding diagnostic services in Nagaland.
Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC), Zunheboto, Dr. Chuchong Noklang, who graced the occasion, described the launch as a major milestone for the centre. Congratulating the team, she highlighted the importance of timely and accurate diagnosis, particularly in view of the rising incidence of cancer in the state.
Dr. Noklang noted that cancers such as nasopharyngeal, stomach and esophageal among men, and breast, cervical and stomach among women, have been increasing in Nagaland. She stressed that delays in early diagnosis and treatment have worsened health outcomes, adding that cancer remains among the top five causes of death in the state, as per ICMR data.
Outlining contributing factors including environmental, dietary, lifestyle, genetic and infectious causes, she encouraged lifestyle modifications, avoidance of tobacco and vaccination against cancer-causing viruses. Appreciating the introduction of in-house histopathology services, she said the facility would make diagnostic procedures more accessible and efficient for patients, while lauding the centre’s professionalism, affordability and quality of service.
Guest of honour Dr. Samuel Swu, PhD and Lecturer at Eastern Bible College, delivered an address reflecting on faith and perseverance, attributing the success of the institution to steadfast faith and dedication.
He encouraged the team to continue placing God at the centre of their mission.
Earlier, the programme began with a welcome address by Managing Director and Radiologist Dr. Worshim Khamrang, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Pathologist Dr. Rhantheshan Ovung.
