APHEN highlights the crucialrole of public health engineers

Association of Public Health Engineers, Nagaland (APHEN) during its 6th general conference underscored the crucial role of public health engineers in alignment with the vision of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED).


A press release by APHEN stated that during the inaugural session of the conference held on May 31 at Niathu Resort, Chümoukedima, APHEN president, Er. L. Leyang Khiamniungan, emphasised the crucial role of public health engineers in ensuring sustainable, safe, and adequate drinking water and promoting hygienic well-being in alignment with the vision statement of the department. Highlighting the department’s current transitional phase, Er. Khiamniungan called for mutual understanding, unity, trust, and coordination among officers to foster a cohesive departmental environment.


Er. Khiamniungan also highlighted the hierarchical structure and future expansion plans, including the creation of new posts, while urging members to remain dedicated and sincere amidst the department’s many challenges to continue facilitating public service.
The APHEN president also commended the members for their dedication and support towards the engineering fraternity by attending the general conference.


In a short speech, APHEN executive member, Er. Vikeduolie, sensitised the members about the genesis of the association. He also encouraged unity among members and reaffirmed confidence in the new office bearers to uphold the association’s values and address departmental issues.


The conference featured special presentations by Sentiein Kichu, Limekua T. Kinimi, and Lapla Oungh. The event was chaired by APEN vice president, Er. Yanger Ponger and invocation by Er. Bendangtola Walling.


A moment of silence was observed in remembrance of members who have passed away.
Meanwhile, during the conference, new office bearers for the 2024-27 tenure were elected with Er. Kedolhuto Pienyu as president, Er. Ichirang Zeliang as vice president, Er. Wonjanbeni Odyuo as general secretary, Er. L. Nokfho K as joint secretary and Er. Neilhoukholie as treasurer. The conference concluded with a strong resolve among members to uphold the principles and objectives of APHEN, ensuring the welfare of the department and the public, stated the association.
