Nagaland’s Power & Parliamentary Affairs Minister, K.G. Kenye while highlighting Nagaland’s high literacy rate, encouraged students to appreciate the sacrifices of their parents and guardians. The minister emphasized on the need for a change in perception and approach to life.

He was speaking at the 77th General Conference of the Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) at Losami village under Phek district as inaugural guest. Kenye reflected on the transition of the Chakhesang Students Union from the Chakhesang Students Conference into a foundational community organization. He acknowledged the significant societal changes and the community’s efforts to adapt to global transformation. Kenye emphasized on the integration of Nagas into society, underscoring their pivotal role as an integral part of the Naga community, interconnected with other tribes, states, and even across international boundaries as “Pan Nagas.”

The minister also emphasized on the resilience of the Nagas, acknowledging their tumultuous history and their ability to carve out their destiny despite limited access to their inner human potential. He highlighted the natural advantages of Nagaland’s landscape and the community’s resilience to natural disasters and diseases. However, he lamented the socio-political struggles faced by the Naga people, including limitations in education, intellectual capacity, and the tendency to react with condemnation rather than constructive analysis when faced with challenges.

Vezuhu Keyho of the Chakhesang Public Organization urged students to set disciplined goals in their crucial lives full of opportunities. Mutsikhoyo Yhobu of the Northeast Students Organization praised the Chakhesang Students Union’s commitment in upholding a rich legacy and working for the welfare of the people.

President of the Naga Students Federation, Medovi Rhi, conveyed greetings, while Avezo Kevin Kapu delivered the presidential address and Cüsayi Lohe welcomed attendees as the convenor of the Central Organizing Committee. Vevotso Medeo, Tribunal General, led the program, and Kenye, the inaugural guest, unveiled a souvenir and a monolith.
