Based on specific information, Assam Rifles Kohima Battalion troops under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) launched an operation in the general area of BOC, Kohima on October 24.
A press release from Assam Rifles stated that during the search operation, two individuals were apprehended. They were identified as “lance corporal” Biki Basumatary of NDFB(S), 28 years, son of late Gurucharn Basumatary, resident of Gohpur village, Sonitpur, Assam; and Nerswn Narzary, 18 years, son of Frota Narzary, resident of Dungang Fakriguri village, Kokrajhar, Assam. A Nokia mobile phone and cash of 1,000 in Korean currency were seized from the duo. According to the release, Biki Basumatary revealed that he had infiltrated into Myanmar in 2014 and underwent three years training at the Thulu Camp of NDFB(S). He recently relocated to the general area of D’ Block, Kohima. He had come to Kohima with specific direction from his hierarchy for recruitment of new cadres and also to act as a linkup man between NSCN(K) and NDFB(S). He was further instructed to facilitate movement of cadres from Assam to Myanmar through Kohima. Both the individuals were handed over to South Police Station, Kohima for further investigation.
