9 Assam Rifles (AR) has informed it apprehended two alleged NSCN (R) cadre identified as Dy Kilonser (Finance) Kuzoveiyi Kezo and Rukuve Pherie during an operation conducted at Pfutsero Town on August 9.
According to AR sources, troops of 9 AR acting on information regarding extortion/ tax collection by underground cadres, apprehended the duo in a Maruti Alto Car and 12 Bore Rifle (Country made), five Cartridge (Live), letter printed documents of NSCN (R) and extortion slips were recovered from their possession.
During initial interrogation, the cadres reportedly revealed they were active members of NSCN (R) and have been collecting tax on orders from superiors.
AR sources also stated that dy kilonser Kuzoveiyi Kezo was also apprehended earlier on May 2, 2016 on similar charges and was out on bail.
The alleged cadres were in police custody, AR added.
