In an operation carried out by 28 Assam Rifles, two cadres of NSCN (K) were apprehended with two Chinese grenades, one detonator, mob phones and foreign currencies on March 18 at Wokha.
On receipt of intelligence, 28 Assam Rifles laid mobile check post on the road entering Wokha from Longsa and on searching a Chevrolet Spark car, grenades were found hidden inside the headrest of the seat of driver and co driver, stated a press release. The apprehended cadres were identified as Imchawapang Imchen alias SS Capt Imti Ao of NSCN (K), Central Council Member and Imtitongzuk alias Wapang Ao of NSCN (K). The apprehended cadres revealed that the grenades were being transshipped from Imphal under the directions of Starson Lamkang SS Finance Kilonser NSCN (K) to target FCI and SF personnel, the press note added.
Further questioning of the apprehended cadres led to follow up joint operation with 32 Assam Rifles in Dimapur in the early hours of March 19 and led to recovery of two Chinese grenades, one pistol, three live rounds and two kgs of TNT from various locations.
