AR conduct awareness, health and youth programmes

DIMAPUR: Assam Rifles carried out a series of community oriented programmes across Nagaland, ranging from awareness seminars to preventive healthcare and youth empowerment initiatives, reaffirming its commitment to public welfare and nation building.
In Longleng, Assam Rifles in collaboration with Phom Students’ Conference (PSC) organised an NCC awareness seminar at VCC & VDB Hall.
A total of 84 NCC cadets from Yangli College, Phom Lempong Higher Secondary School and St. Joseph School participated.
Officials delivered detailed presentations on incentives provided by the Central Government, benefits under the Cadet Welfare Society and State level support measures.
The seminar aimed to motivate youth to actively engage in NCC activities, fostering leadership qualities and personal development.
Participants appreciated the informative session and expressed gratitude to Assam Rifles and PSC for the initiative.
At Tuensang, Assam Rifles conducted a dental screening and treatment camp at 3rd NAP (Nagaland Armed Police) on June 13.
A total of 44 personnel benefited from oral screening, extractions, restorations and other procedures.
Patients were educated on oral hygiene practices and preventive measures, while oral hygiene aids were distributed to encourage regular dental care.
In addition, a Dental Health Camp was organised at Assam Rifles High School, Tuensang, where students underwent dental check ups and were guided on brushing techniques and healthy oral habits.
In Kohima, Assam Rifles supported the Government of India’s TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan by conducting an Ayushman Arogya Shivir (Health Screening Camp) at Unit Hospital, Kohima Garrison, on June 10. Organised in coordination with the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Kohima, the camp provided comprehensive screenings including chest X ray, HIV and hepatitis testing, blood pressure and sugar checks.
Medical teams highlighted the importance of early diagnosis and healthy lifestyle practices.
The camp enhanced awareness on tuberculosis and other diseases, contributing to national public health objectives. On the same day, Assam Rifles joined hands with Rajyoga Education & Research Foundation under Brahma Kumaris to organise a Youth Wellness & Awareness Programme at Kohima Garrison under the theme “Unmasking the Appeal”.
Around 250 students and youth from various institutions participated.
The programme, graced by Deputy IGAR (North) as chief guest, also saw the presence of DC Kohima B. Henok Buchem and other dignitaries. Sessions focused on tobacco and nicotine awareness, with the launch of an Anti Tobacco Awareness Campaign. The event concluded with a rally across Kohima town, spreading messages on tobacco cessation and healthy living.
