DIMAPUR: Assam Rifles organised a Health Care Medical Camp for elderly people at Zhipu village, Meluri, on August 25, reaffirming its commitment to community health and welfare.
The initiative focused on providing medical assistance and raising awareness on preventive healthcare and common health concerns among the elderly. A total of 45 beneficiaries received consultations and guidance on regular health examinations, nutrition, personal hygiene, and healthy lifestyle practices. Participants were encouraged to seek timely medical attention and remain attentive to age related health issues. The camp provided accessible medical guidance and strengthened interaction between the medical team and the local community.
The programme was part of Assam Rifles’ ongoing community outreach and welfare efforts in remote areas, contributing to improved awareness of basic health practices and reinforcing mutual trust and cooperation.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles organised “A Day with Company Commander” at Company Operating Base (COB) Chenmoho, Mon district, on August 25, with the aim of fostering awareness, aspiration and confidence among students while highlighting career opportunities in the Force.
A total of 55 students participated in the programme, which included briefings on the history, charter and multifaceted role of Assam Rifles in border management, internal security, and civic action. The interaction encouraged students to value education, dream big and understand the importance of discipline, dedication, and service to the nation.
A special session on career opportunities in Assam Rifles covered entry avenues, training, work profiles and operational duties. Personnel shared their experiences, providing insights into career prospects and life in the Force.
To make the programme engaging, recreational activities such as sack race, tug of war, musical chairs, jalebi race, and 100 metre sprint were organised, offering students an informal platform to interact and build teamwork. An open house session with the Company Commander allowed students to raise queries on career guidance, education, discipline, and personal development.
The initiative strengthened mutual understanding between Assam Rifles and the local community, reaffirming its commitment to youth empowerment, education, and nation building, in keeping with its ethos of being the “Sentinels of the North East” and “Friends of the Hill People.”
