
Battalions of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) conducted various activities across the state for the welfare of the public.
Talent hunt competition, craft training: Ghaspani and Jalukie battalions of Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters of Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North) organised a talent competition and training respectively.
Ghaspani battalion conducted talent hunt competition under the theme, “Today’s Youth Tomorrow’s Future” on August 21 at Molvam village, Jotsoma village, Nihokhu and Piphema. The battalion said the event was organised to encourage youths to come forward and show cast their talents. Jalukie battalion in collaboration with State Bank of India (SBI) Rural Self Employment Training Institute, Jalukie carried out bamboo and cane craft training from August 9-21. The battalion said the training was aimed to uplift the lives of local populace. Meanwhile, the battalion, in collaboration with RSETI facilitated enrolment of 24 youth from far flung villages in Peren to generate self-employment opportunities.
World Senior Citizen Day: Mokokchung battalion reached out to the elders on the occasion of World Senior Citizen Day on August 21 at Mon, Longleng and Mokokchung districts and acknowledged the role of elders. The elders expressed their gratitude and the civil society appreciated the noble gesture carried out by the Assam Rifles.
Medical camp-cum- vaccination drive: Jalukie battalion in collaboration with PHC, Athibung conducted a medical camp-cum-vaccination drive at Old Beisumpui village, Peren on August 22. A total of 119 individuals (39 males, 58 females and 22 children) received medical benefits from the camp.
Raksha Bandhan celebrated: Jalukie battalion celebrated Raksha Bandhan with the visit of sisters from Heraka community at Heningkunglwa village and Tening town, Peren on August 22.
On the occasion, Tasile Zeliang, a renowned author and ascetic of Heraka community, along with other sisters expressed gratitude to the security forces for their relentless service and dedication with a song.
Landslide assistance: Kiphire battalion assisted Pokhpur village in clearing of multiple road blockades due to landslides on the village road by providing JCB on August 22.
Due to incessant rains in the past few days, the road from remote village of Pokhpur to Kiusam junction and further to Pungro and Kiphire was blocked due to landslides at multiple locations.
Responding to call of the village council of Pokhpur, the Assam Rifles provided JCB to clear the road.
