The Assam Rifles distributed sports items to youth organization at the opening ceremony of the five men football tournament at Ball Park, Jalukie town under Peren district on Friday.
The Assam Rifles informed that the event aimed at promoting sports and sportsmanship as a tool to bring upliftment among the youth. It said the main motive was also to engage youths in sports as a preventive measures from indulging into drugs and toxic substances.
Sports items including football, volleyball, basketball, badminton racket, badminton shuttle, cricket bats, stump, tennis ball and other sports material costing around Rs.20000 were distributed to youths.
The organising committee, JTYO president, executive members expressed gratitude to Assam Rifles for its effort and concerns for the youths.
