In a drive to promote environmental awareness, Assam Rifles conducted a tree plantation programme at St. John High School, Wakching, Mon district, under the theme ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’, on June 24.
Troops of Assam Rifles joined school staff and students in planting over 300 saplings of native and fruit-bearing trees.
The event aimed to honour both Mother Earth and one’s own mother, while also encouraging environmental responsibility among youth.
Assam Rifles representatives highlighted the importance of conservation and instilling eco-conscious values in the younger generation.
Meanwhile, the force also extended support to 565 aspiring youths from Southern Nagaland preparing for the SSC(GD) recruitment.
Out of the total, 152 candidates cleared the SSC(GD) written examination 2024–2025.

In Jalukie, Peren district, Assam Rifles conducted a guidance session for 29 candidates—among them seven girls—who cleared the written exam for the upcoming SSC (GD) recruitment rally 2025. The session included tips on physical and medical tests and was part of a four-week training initiative launched earlier to help local youth prepare for the recruitment process. The initiative, aimed at empowering young aspirants for a career in uniformed service, was well received, with participants appreciating Assam Rifles for their continued encouragement and support.
Assam Rifles also conducted a door-to-door medical camp and a youth guidance session as part of its civic outreach activities in Nagaland on June 23.
According to Assam Rifles sources, in Meluri district, a medical team from Assam Rifles visited Avangkhu and Pokhungri villages to provide basic healthcare services to villagers facing difficulties due to road conditions and remote terrain. Medical check-ups, distribution of essential medicines, and health advice were provided to over 58 individuals, including 24 women and children. The villagers expressed gratitude for the timely support and humanitarian effort extended by the force.
