Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted various programmes in different districts of Nagaland in March and April.
Chieswema Battalion: Chieswema Battalion conducted interaction programme with village GBs and council members of Zadhima-II, Phekerkrima and Zeizou village at Chiephobozou sub- division on April 3. According to PRO, HQ IGAR (N), the villagers and council members brought out issues pertaining to the development, employment of youths, education and health. Assam Rifles assured them of all possible help in holistic development of the region and also briefed them about upcoming Army recruitment rally which would help youth join the Armed forces. A total of nine representatives of villages attended the programme.
Wokha Battalion: Wokha Battalion organised a motivational lecture at AG School, Tseminyu, Kohima on March 21. The lecture was conducted by the school students of Tseminyu region who had participated in a national integration tour to Delhi, Agra and Jaipur organised by Assam Rifles. During the programme, the students narrated their experiences during the tour to cities outside the NE. Four students of AG School, Tseminyu who participated in the national integration tour were also felicitated. A Total of 55 students attended the lecture.
Jalukie Battalion: Jalukie Battalion commenced a month long skill development training for youth at handicraft centre Athibung on March 19. The aim of the training was to enable the youth to start their own ventures so as to earn a livelihood. Henpu, a trained handicraft artist is assisting the Assam Rifles in the month long basic course on handicraft skill development programme, sponsored by Jalukie battalion by providing raw materials and technology with minimal expenditure from the trainees. GBs and chairmen of the town and nearby villages attended the opening ceremony and training.
Shamator Battalion: Shamator Battalion conducted a lecture at Shamatore College on March 28 with an aim to educated and motivate students to join the armed forces. During the lecture, students were also informed about the pay packages, medical benefits and other privileges associated with the profession. A total of 52 students attended the lecture along with the college staff.
