To spread the message of “Music Against Drugs”, 25 Assam Rifles organised a musical extravaganza on August 8 at St. Xavier’s College, Jalukie Town. The town witnessed a remarkable musical event with a resounding message against drug abuse with a hosts of singers united in harmony to raise awareness about the adverse effects of drugs on individuals and society.
Motivational and energising address by the chief guest, Sena Medal, Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North), Maj Gen Vikas Lakhera, resonated with the audience, who encouraged them to actively work towards the cause of eradicating drug abuse from the society.
The distinguished gathering included the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of Peren district as well as officials from the administration and civil services of Jalukie and Peren. Various Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) from both towns also graced the occasion, showing their solidarity with the cause.
The competition was organized in two phases in which a total of 25 candidates participated. Out of these, five finalists were shortlisted, who performed during the final event showcasing the diverse talents and spirit of the region.
Rachel secured the first position, while Charakung and Wisuiliu were declared first and second runners-up respectively.
The event witnessed a huge turnout of 400 locals and left an indelible mark with the exceptional musical prowess of the participants. Guest artistes from Peren district and band of Jalukie Battalion also mesmerized the audience with their brilliant performance and enthused everyone towards the noble cause of the event.
The musical event not only showcased the vibrant musical talent of the region but also served as a powerful platform to unite the people of Jalukie and Peren in their collective fight against drugs, reinforcing the values of unity, patriotism and social responsibility in the hearts of all attendees.
