In line with its motto ‘Friends of the North-East”, Assam Rifles, operating under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (North), generously distributed three plastic water storage tanks to the CSM Orphan Home in Peren and Christian English School at Tesen village of Peren district on August 24.
According to a DIPR report, this initiative was conducted as part of the Assam Rifles civic action programme, and the water tanks were formally handed over to village authorities during a special function. The event saw the presence of teachers, students, village council members and other stakeholders.
The provision of these water tanks is expected to alleviate water scarcity in the remote village by enabling water storage throughout all seasons. Additionally, the local community was educated about rainwater harvesting techniques and the significance of preserving water sources through forest conservation.
Furthermore, the residents were provided with guidance on health and hygiene practices to observe during varying weather conditions. The event was attended by 10 teachers, 35 students, and village authorities.
The teachers, inmates, village council members, and villagers collectively expressed their profound gratitude to Assam Rifles for their compassionate efforts in aiding the underprivileged and marginalized in remote regions.
