Assam Rifles, on Saturday, has refuted the allegations made by NSCN (I-M) in connection with the arrests of its two members — Leacy from Kohima and a cadre from Khekiho village near Doyapur, saying the apprehended individuals were “indulging in extortion, vitiating peace and were in possession of incriminating documents and weapons.”
In a press release, PRO IGAR (N) claimed that some members of NSCN (I-M) have been violating the Cease Fire Ground Rules. PRO said that Assam Rifles conducts all operations with police representatives upholding human rights. Further, PRO stated that aspersions cast against Assam Rifles of threatening, torture and harassment during conduct of operations was “false, baseless and a deliberate attempt to malign the image of Assam Rifles.”
