Reacting to a news item under the headline “NSCN (I-M) slams AR action”, the Assam Rifles in a statement has outrightly rejected the “malicious narrative” initiated by NSCN (IM) to tarnish the image of the force.
In a press release PRO (defence) claimed that narratives of the NSCN (I-M) were part of a propaganda campaign, aimed at “discrediting and discouraging the security forces from their bonafide duties”.
According to PRO, on August 29, they received an input regarding movement of armed cadres in Doyapur village. Following which as Motor Vehicle Check Post was established and during the course of action, a suspected white Mahindra Bolero (MN 08 A 0772) approached the check post. Upon searching of the vehicle, two suspected individuals were found in possession of unaccounted money Rs 10,61,000.
“The cadres of NSCN (IM) revealed that they were going to GHQ, Hebron for submission of the illegal extortion money collected from Senapati district of Manipur”, AR said.
PRO therefore said that such belligerent act of “possession of such huge extortion money by cadres is a blatant violation of the Cease Fire Ground Rules”.
“Assam Rifles is committed to maintaining peace and security. AR has been doing and will continue to do its mandated task of enforcing CFGR,” the statement stated.
