32 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) along with police representative launched an operation in Purana Bazar, Dimapur on August 3 and rescued a public allegedly kidnapped by NNC.
According to PRO, HQ IGAR (N), during the search, troops of Assam Rifles apprehended one NNC cadre along with one Pt 22 mm pistol with magazine and other “war like stores” and rescued one individual from the house of one Kiyeho Sumi. The rescued individual was identified as Tonwang Konyak (54) resident of Signal Basti was kidnapped on July 31 from his house at Signal Basti. The apprehended individual was identified as NNC member, Khra Candi (23) son of James Tikher, resident of Super Market, Dimapur. The arrested person along with the recovered items and the rescued were handed over to East Police Police Station, Dimapur for further investigation, informed PRO.
