A ten-day National Integration Tour (NIT) for 20 students and three teachers of Loyola Higher Secondary School (LHSS), Zakhama, Kohima was flagged off by General Officer Commanding (GoC) Spear Corps, AVSM, YSM, SM, Lt. Gen. HS Sahi at Rangapahar Military Station, Dimapur on Wednesday.
The tour organised under operation “Sadbhavna” was aimed at providing an opportunity to the students hailing from Kigwema, Tsisinyu, Zakhama, Mima and Kezo villages in the Kohima district to venture beyond Nagaland and explore historical, cultural places in cities and visit institutions of national eminence at Kolkata, Shillong and Guwahati.
Addressing the students before flagging off the tour, Lt. Gen. HS Sahi emphasised the importance of the students as they were the future of Nagaland.
He encouraged the students to interact with people, share their experiences upon return, and become ambassadors for the Indian Army.
He also highlighted Nagaland’s transformation from a state with numerous challenges to a peaceful state, expressing pride in the country’s recognition of Nagaland’s significance. He likened Nagaland to a “jewel”.
It may be noted that during the tour, the students would be given an opportunity to explore historical and cultural landmarks, interact with dignitaries, and engage in adventurous activities.
The students will meet Governors of West Bengal and Meghalaya, as well as the Director General of Assam Rifles. The 10-day tour will conclude on December 22, and the team will be welcomed by Governor of Nagaland.
