ARSU session underway in New Risethsi

The 19th general session of the Amahator Range Students’ Union (ARSU) got underway at New Risethsi Village on January 8 on  the theme “Elicit responsibility.”
Delivering the inaugural speech on January 8 evening, Pithrongse Sangtam, President of the United Sangtam  Students’ Conference (USSC), said education and culture should go together in order to keep abreast with the competitive world. Emphasizing on the importance of good leadership, he urged the ARSU gathering to develop competitive spirit and be well equipped with the latest information and development so as to lead the students to a brighter future.
Stressing on the importance of agriculture, USSC president said the best culture in the world is agriculture and called upon the gathering to make use of agriculture for the future benefits.
Chotsato Sangtam shared on the topic “Never forget your roots.”
The four day general session which begins on January 8 would conclude on January 11.
On the sideline of the session, volleyball, badminton, debate, solo and speech competitions would be held village wise. Altogether eight villages under ARSU are taking part at the general session.
It may be mentioned that New Risethsi village under Kiphire district has celebrated golden jubilee of the church some years back but is yet to connect with the basic water pipe line facility as the village is situated on high altitude. The villagers have to fetch water from the traditional well down below the village.
