Artisans received toolkits under PM Vishwakarma

A toolkit handing over ceremony under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme was held at the DC Office, Kohima, on June 20 in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Kohima, B Henok Buchem.
A DIPR report informed that, DC in his speech, said the initiative was aimed at supporting local artisans and craftspeople. Citing chief minister Neiphiu Rio’s words, he encouraged artisans to make good use of the tools provided and work towards sustainable growth.
He also shared real-life examples to inspire them to adopt a smarter business approach. Functional Manager of District Industries Centre, Kohima, Jessy Jurry, gave a brief report on the scheme.
She informed that 261 artisans have been trained out of 2102 applicants, and 91 toolkits were distributed. Training was given in trades such as tailoring, carpentry, barber work, basket making, doll and toy making, and masonry. One of the beneficiaries, Baby Vizo, shared her success story and thanked the government. She said the artisans would form a group to work together and grow their businesses. The event was chaired by SDO (C) Rorheu Peseyie. Welcome address was delivered by Deputy Director of Industries and Commerce, Keneirienuo T Zatsu.
