DIMAPUR, AUG 29 (NPN): The Angami Sports Association (ASA) along with its four regional bodies – Northern Angami Sports Association (NASA), Western Angami Youth Organisation (WAYO), Chakhroma Youth Organisation (CYO) and Southern Angami Sports Association (SASA) convened a consultative meeting at Piphema Cultural Hall to deliberate on youth development and the future of games and sports.
The meeting, chaired by ASA vice president, Thinuovilie Keyho, began with an invocation by deaconess CRC Piphema, Kehounei-ü Keyho. ASA president Ruokuovikho Chale delivered the keynote address, while treasurer, Virielhoulie Miario briefed the gathering on sports equipment availability and procurement.
Regional leaders and senior players shared their experiences and perspectives, stressing the importance of nurturing young minds, utilising sports talent effectively, promoting physical health and adopting a “minimum budget, maximum platform” approach.
Participants also emphasised the role of sports not merely as competition but as a movement for positive change and community wellbeing.
The meeting further discussed preparations for the upcoming 55th ASA Meet, tentatively scheduled for February 18–19, 2027, with indigenous games to be included as part of the event.
Among those present were regional executives, notable players and senior leaders.
