Commemorating its 50th years of existence, Angami Sports Association (ASA) will be organizing various events before the main celebration which is scheduled to be held on February 7-11 2017. The celebration is expected to celebrate in galore with varieties of games in Kohima.
This was informed by ASA general secretary Er. Zale Neikha during a media interaction at Hotel Japfu Friday afternoon.
Perhaps one of the biggest events would be the stone pulling event slated on December 3 in partnership with state government, where a minimum 5000 participants including women folks are expected to take part in the event in full traditional attire.
Amongst the 5000 participants 1500 participants each from Southern and Northern Angami region, 1000 participants each from Western and Chakhro Sports Association were expected to be a part of the event.
Nagas and visitors from across the globe can anticipate a colorful town on December 3 with yodels and folk songs starting from KMC parking lot at New Ministers Hill to Old MLA hostel Junction which will be followed by a feast.
Commemorating its jubilee, the association will organize a concert on October 14 at Solidarity Park with the all the Angami artists except the DGP band.
After all these events, the main celebration will be held on February 7-11 2016 where various games such as Naga style wrestling, football, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, sepaktakraw, track and field events, golden jubilee marathon race, bamboo walk and many other games will mark the celebration.
In this connection, ASA had a co-ordination meeting with the Angami legislators this afternoon at Hotel Japfu seeking support from the legislators.
Minister forest and environment Dr. Nicky Kire, minister social welfare Kiyanilie Peseyie, MLA’s Er. Vikho-o Yhosu, Er. Kropol Vitsu, Zhaleo Rio and Dr. Neiphrezo Kiditsu attended the meeting.
