ASF cases confirmed in two Longleng villages

DIMAPUR, JUL 3 (NPN)

In view of the confirmation of African Swine Fever (ASF) cases in Pongching and Hamlikhong villages under Longleng district, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Longleng, W. Manpai Phom, has notified certain areas as infected zones and surveillance zones for the purpose of controlling and containing ASF outbreak. It declared areas within 1 km radius of the infected premises of the two villages as infected zone area and an extent of 10 km radius from the infected premises (9 km radius outside the infected zone) as surveillance zone.
In this regard, DC has banned slaughter of pigs; import and export of pigs and piglets and transportation of pigs and pork in the aforementioned locations until further order.
