ASF detected in 2 villages under Kma

DIMAPUR, AUG 12 (NPN)

Following the detection of African Swine Fever (ASF) at Kigwema and Mitelephe villages under Kohima district, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kohima declared the affected regions as “Infected and Surveillance Zones” for control and containment of the disease.
In a notification, the DC Kohima has outlined the following designations: Kigwema and Mitelephe villages have been identified as Infected Zones, encompassing a 1km radius around the infected premises.
Surrounding those areas, a Surveillance Zone has been established, covering a 10km radius from the infected premises (9km radius outside the Infected Zone).
In light of the containment measures, DC has imposed a complete ban on the slaughter of pigs, import and export of pigs and piglets, and transportation of pigs and pork within the specified zones until further notice.
